This presentation is for the IBEA Annual Conference in McCall, Idaho on October 3, 2015. We will take a deeper dive from yesterdays Technology Splash presentation on Web 2.0 Tools for the 21st Century Classroom.
I first want us to take a look at augmented reality. Augmented reality (AR) is a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment whose elements are augmented (or supplemented) by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. It is related to a more general concept called mediated reality, in which a view of reality is modified (possibly even diminished rather than augmented) by a computer. As a result, the technology functions by enhancing one’s current perception of reality.

Office Mix is a free add-in for PowerPoint 2013 or later that allows you to add more interactivity to a typical PowerPoint presentation. It is a great tool for flipped and blended classrooms that makes authoring and/or sharing of online lessons/presentations simple. With Office Mix you can create screencasts that include video, simulations, inking and live quiz questions. Once your presentation is ready, just click “Create Mix” and you presentation is turned into an interactive document (mp4). From there, just share the link, and your students can watch it on just about any device with a web browser.

What is Kahoot?
To assess student understanding instantly I like Kahoot which is a fast-paced classroom response system. Students love this game show style tool. Kahoots are simple to make or teachers can use one of the publically created Kahoots.
Kahoot! is a game-based blended learning platform, allowing both educators and students to research, create, collaborate and share knowledge - any subject, in any language, on any device, for all ages! It gives students a voice in the classroom, and allows educators to engage and focus their students through play and creativity.
